The characteristics of each wood can be read on the list below:Koa: for those who want a long-lasting bookshelf, choosing Koa wood as its main material can be the best option. This wood can be considered as the hardest wood among other types of woods that are commercially available. Despite its great durability, it has great shellac quality and is lightweight.Cherry: despite being a hardwood, cherry wood is actually very versatile and lightweight. A lot of people choose this wood over others due to its warm and rich reddish color. As it gets older, the color will turn even darker and richer, creating an antique feeling on old shelves. Best choice for display purpose.Plywood: for DIY enthusiasts, this type of woods is the best option. There are several grades that determine the appearance and smoothness of the surface knots. Plywood is pretty cheap and relatively strong compared to other woods available on the market, which are the reasons why it is popular among DIY practitioners.Pine: this woods can be considered the most popular and affordable softwoods on the market. It is easy to stain, pain, and modify, which is suitable for any DIY beginners. Despite being a solid wood, it is not recommended to use it to place heavy objects because it can dent or bend easily.

Use of metal for roofing material is not a new invention. In fact, its use was prevalent in the 3rd century BC Sri Lanka, where the Lovamahapaya Temple is observed being installed with copper shingles. The Pantheon was covered by copper roofing in 27 BC. European medieval architecture, centuries later, also incorporated copper alloys as roof covering, as evident in St. Mary’s Cathedral in Hildesheim, 1280 AD. This, obviously, is only to mention a few of a slew other architectural wonders scattered all over the world that display use of metal roofing system. And there is a reason why metal roofing is preferable that its use last well into this century. Roofs of metallic materials are thought to be capable of lasting for at least up to 100 years. This should be enough to be used as a reason why metal roofs are preferable but they are also less expensive compared to, say, asphalt shingles, which are not as durable as metal.

Roof Shingles. Published at Friday, March 29th 2019, 07:16:18 AM by james.
A roof covering that is composed of individual elements that overlaps one another is called roof shingles. The word “shingle”, etymologically speaking, is a corruption of a German word “schindle”, which roughly translate to “roofing slate”. “Shingles”, particularly outside the US, is a term that was originally and historically used to refer to roofing tiles made of wood only. Within the US, the term today applies to any roofing tiles of any materials. Speaking of which, shingles can be made out of wood, asphalt, fiber cement, plastic, metal, flagstone, or slate. Typically, each shingle is flat and rectangular in shape and is laid one atop the other from the roof edge to the top.
Corner Bookshelves. Published at Thursday, March 28th 2019, 11:37:45 AM by james.
Granted, a conventional bookcase can still be used to occupy a corner. However, its placement would be awkward because the section nearest to the corner would be obstructed by another piece of furniture unless of course you plan on leaving the adjacent wall empty—which is not a wise act because that would hurt the balance within the room. And object obstructing direct view toward the corner part of the bookcase would make it difficult for anyone to grab a book or simply observe the titles. A corner bookshelf can occupy the vacant part of the room as it snugs comfortably without breaking the flow. Even when not use to store books, it should serve as a pretty addition to the room’s atmosphere.
